History:
Delta was never comfortable with themselves as a child. Being a shapeshifter, they never really felt comfortable in one form or gender, but the people around them insisted that they had to pick one in order to fit in. It never made sense to Delta, because in a world that had plenty of people with powers, being a shapeshifter never seemed all that taboo. But they were told constantly that shapeshifters have a bad reputation for being thieves, cheaters, swindlers, and the like. Delta wasn’t super satisfied with that answer, but….life went on.
As they got older, they realized that it was okay to feel uncomfortable with being one person. That their longing for change was completely natural, and embedded in their genes. They wanted to embrace their power and change;other people with powers were allowed to, so they shouldn’t be any different.
The first thing Delta realized was that they didn’t feel comfortable being referred to as a girl, as they were in the beginning. Then they realized they weren’t comfortable being referred to as a boy either. While they didn’t mind the pronouns on a given day, the day changed. Some days, Delta felt more like a girl, and would shift to keep that look. Other days, they felt more like a boy.
Then they began to feel different. Some days they felt like they should be taller with brown hair, or shorter and chubby. Delta was never able to really settle on a look. Eventually they came up with an androgynous persona to keep on during normal days, and that is their normal blue haired look. But their gender varies by day.
Delta works as an investigator now, trying to sell stories to newspapers and news networks to scrape by. They use their ability to get into places not everyone can, and there, they are able to get more information. It’s a good job, it pays, and Delta is able to use their power the way they want to.
