History: Imogen is the Queen of a planet called Sitas.
When she was a child, Imogen grew up in a less well off neighborhood closer to where the nobles of the planet lived. Her mother was single and was not always financially well off, working as an escort in an upscale business. Imogen was often alone, and due to her shyness, she did not have many friends. But her mother was a respected woman, and Imogen was loved and cared for.
Imogen met her best friend, Vast, on the edge of the nobility land. He was her age, kind, outgoing, and excited. The two grew close over many years, and knowing Vast was enough to bring Imogen out of her shell.
Well, as adults, they remained close friends. Imogen worked as a seamstress and earned a modest living after her mother retired, and Vast became involved in politics when political reform came around- after their King was assassinated and a dictator rose to power, Jenko was the one to take him down. But the dictator’s twin did not want the throne, so an election was held. Vast was elected as King.
Imogen prepared to lose her friend- she was happy for him of course, but he would be moving into the palace far away. He had a duty to his people, and she knew this.
So, she was quite surprised when he asked to take her as a wife.
Vast explained to her that while the two had never had any romantic interest in the other, he wanted to take her with him into the palace and have her live with him. He loved her, he said, and she deserved better. He would teach her about everything she needed to know, and he would take care of her forever.
The two were married and Imogen became his Queen, and she was happy. The people loved her and Vast, and she found herself at peace.
Until tragedy struck, and Vast was assassinated.
Without so much as a drop of noble blood in her veins, Imogen didn’t know what to do. When she was finished mourning for her husband, she was faced with a choice; keep her role as Queen and try her best, or step down and admit defeat. To honor her best friend and husband, Imogen decided to keep her rule as the Queen of Sitas.
