Seaton spends most of his time in rivers, but he was actually born in one of the oceans of Qualdralis. He was born close to where a local river ran off into the water. Seaton came from a large family of water Leothauns to a pair of parents who loved each other to pieces, and had many brothers and sisters to play with as a child. It was nearly impossible for him to run out of energy. He especially loved to explore coral reefs and underwater caverns, and with the hybrid lungs of the Water Leothauns, this was very possible. He would hunt for brightly colored rocks and pebbles, bring food to his smaller siblings, and decorate the area around their cave. Mostly he just liked to collect odds and ends from wherever he went. He was very close with other species of course, and most Water Leothauns that were around. Seaton just never could get enough of others.
Eventually when he was old enough, having seen his older siblings leave one by one to pursue their own lives, he began to think about what he wanted to do. He did not want to be a merchant like his oldest brother, nor did he want to blow glass like his oldest sister, or sew clothes, or build dams, or be a fisherman…so he decided to simply travel a bit and see where life took him.
Seaton decided to go upstream to check out the land. He found a very deep river that he went up, eventually came across another tribe of River Leothauns, and eventually they even saved a Volcano Leothaun that had been floating unconscious down the river! He lived with them for a while, and got to know Ustore, the Volcano Leothaun. In the meantime he decided to clean up the river- he dislodged debris, cleaned out dead fish and plants, and unblocked flow whenever erosion or landslides would interfere. He decided he was the self-appointed guardian for the river, and kept the water as clean as he could. And the difference was obvious- he found that in the mean time he was able to hunt and catch fish, and he really didn’t need much else to be happy in life.
It was a profession that would never pay, but it always paid off. Seaton left the tribe when Ustore did, and began to travel through the water ways of Qualdralis. He memorized the seasons’ effects on the different bodies of water, the types of fish and wildlife that lived in and around them, figured out a way to deter predators during breeding seasons, kept the rivers clean and flowing, and generally just felt good about himself. His freedom had never been inhibited, and he felt like he was doing some actual good for the world. Someone had to do it, he figured, why not him?
And of course, every so often he would meet a pretty lady Leothaun or two and give them a pretty rock. All the ladies deserved pretty rocks.
