History:
Coria doesn’t have most of her memory. She knows she had parents at some point, but has no idea who they were. She doesn’t know if she had siblings either. What she does remember is a job in a very prestigious building on a planet. She was a maid, she remembers, and she was cleaning and stepped into the wrong room. What she saw and heard was the governor of the planet, a man held in VERY high regard, speaking with an underling about a child trafficking ring.
Even though she hurried out of the room, she was seen. Without any evidence that she knew what had been said, the governor sought to save his reputation and hired an assassin to kill her.
Coria was involved in a devastating ‘accident.’ Her apartment was blown up because she’d left the stove on, and the poor thing died a slow and painful death.
Or so they said, anyway.
Luckily, the police knew something else was up. And Coria, well…she didn’t die. She lost most of her limbs that day- her legs, an arm, her tail, several pieces of her spine, some organs. All her fur had been singed off. Somehow, though, she lived- and through the power of modern medicine, she was stabilized. But she was fading quickly. The police knew she was dying, and there was nothing they could do.
So they froze her; because one of the detectives had a feeling there was foul play, especially since she worked for the governor.
Ten years passed before a medical student made a groundbreaking new discovery in the area of life support. And another five years passed before it was able to be used, after enough rounds of testing.
Coria was taken out of her tube, her damaged organs replaced with synthetic ones, her limbs replaced, her fur attempted to be grown back…and she was basically reconstructed.
Coria woke up in her tube: Capsule 0, Resurrectee 14. C0R14. Coria.
That must…have been her name, she thought.
It was months before she could even walk again, even with the prosthetic limbs. She didn’t remember most of what had happened. But she did remember the last week of her life. With her testimony, the governor was able to be brought to justice.
But…that was it. Fifteen years for a court date. Coria didn’t have anything; an apartment, a job, anything. She was lost in the world now, and had to start over from scratch.
