History:
By pure astronomical odds, Vira was born into a Siren worshiping cult that took up residency inside of an old vault under some mountains on Pandora. As a child, Vira was not allowed to see her mother, and instead had a group of nurses to oversee her childhood. She was pampered by all and given offerings, and her Siren power was never used on people. She only did displays that she was instructed to do by the head priest, a man named Father Baughn.
She was able to learn with many books, but nothing about the outside world; instead, Vira learned things like math, physics, chemistry, biology, english, and her own religion. She was never comfortable with the cult.
When Vira turned eighteen years old, Father Baughn attempted to force himself on her, believing himself to have deserved her favoritism. Vira used her Siren power for the first time on another human, using it as a distraction to run.
After escaping the cult, Vira did not last. Many people saw her, and word of a rogue Siren on Pandora spread quickly and drew in many groups who wanted her for different reasons. She found herself constantly on the move, running and moving until she found herself so far away from the cult that she was near Liar’s Berg in the arctic. Without shoes, any proper clothes, or survival skills, she was near starvation and ready to die from exposure. She believed that it had been wrong to run from Father Baughn, and she began to wish that she had stayed with the cult and allowed him to rape her.
That was when she heard a group of mercenaries looking for her. Having come all the way to the arctic to find her and take her in, they were the best of the best. Vira ran into the town, but a man saw her and went after her. Desperate for a place to hide, Vira went for the only thing she saw; a dumpster.
The only thing the man heard was the door close, and Vira pushed herself into the corner to hide. But sure enough, after mere seconds he was throwing the door open and pointing an enormous shotgun right in her face. Having never been this close to anyone outside the cult, Vira was terrified. Exhausted, and dying, she tried her best to fight him off when he removed his jacket and caught her in it. But due to her lack of energy, she finally gave in to her exhaustion and accepted death.
She awoke in a hotel room in a warm bed with the smell of soup nearby. Sitting next to her with the shotgun balanced on his knee was the mercenary who had pulled her out of the dumpster. He introduced himself as Liam Tsaavik and explained that he had always wanted to fight a Siren, and that he had no problems blowing her face off if she tried anything. He told her that he had left the mercenary group and made off with her, and that they were nowhere near.
After Liam trying to get her to speak, feeding her, clothing her, and taking her on jobs, Vira still didn’t talk to him. He was cruel and arrogant, and had even brought women into the hotel room to have sex with while she was trying to sleep in the other bed. He was too rough and demanding, and often asked himself out loud if she was defective or retarded since she had no Phase power.
But…eventually she began to understand him. And he began to become patient with her. The two reached a mutual understanding, but the space between them was still awkward. So Liam planned on giving her to someone else; someone who would keep her safe. He simply didn’t want her to be the elephant in the room.
On the last job he took her on before she was to be moved, Liam was attacked by a scavenger and his gun was stolen. As he prepared to be fired on, he warned Vira to run. This was the last time he would call her ‘Siren,’ as Vira finally gave him her name before saving his life. She channeled her power, the Phase Siphon, and destroyed the scavenger by ripping his very flesh from his bones as the gravitational anomaly created a singularity that drew the scavenger’s body in. Thus, she created her first flesh smoothie, and killed her first bandit in defense of Liam.
The energy was too much, and she fainted. When she woke up, back at the hotel room, Liam was there with her, a shit eating grin on his face.
After that, the two became inseparable.
Liam showed Vira how to survive in the wastelands, and Vira provided an innocence that Liam had never known before. The two became best friends, until one night when Vira finally told Liam what had happened to make her abandon the cult. To make her feel better, Liam told her about himself; he was from a poverty stricken planet called Eunomia, where the people had huge families and were generally rather unintelligent. He was sold to Dahl as a teenager, and worked in the military until his squad was betrayed and he lost all of his friends. Since then he didn’t care about the military, acted rash and outside of the law, and when he was threatened to be court marshaled he ran way.
That night, Vira asked Liam to take her virginity so no one like Father Baughn would ever try to steal it from her. She said that she loved him, and was under the impression that the first time was supposed to be with someone that she loved. Liam was hesitant at first, but finally conceded and made love to her.
The next morning, he realized he was in love with her.
Over the next few months, Liam slowly died inside, unable to tell her that he loved her. The two remained close and met a few other people, such as Axel the sniper and Agro the psycho. When the group got caught by Hyperion and Axel was shot in the head, and Agro went missing, he finally told her he loved her.
Vira went balistic when Liam was shipped back to Dahl to be executed, and took the whole Hyperion base down. She lived by herself for a whole year in a town called Undertoe, while Liam was brought to Hera to be executed. He escaped after six months in prison, and after another six months on Pandora, they finally found one another again and became a couple. They also learned that Axel and Agro were still alive, and Axel’s brother Jasper was the one at Hyperion who had shot him. The man had amnesia and hadn’t recognized his brother until the last minute, when he moved his gun a millimeter and saved Axel’s life.
They broke in and saved Jasper, and moved to a city called NOpportunity after the original Opportunity fell. They met more new people, including Axel and Jasper’s sister Agatha, a woman from Fyrestone named Aoife, an ex-Dahl general from Liam’s old troop named Michael, and Liam’s sister Maili. Liam and Vira also ended up adopting an albino skag pup that Vira named Boney.
Vira learned a few things over the years; her mother was not in the cult by choice, and along with many other women, had been raped until she conceived a child. The cult produced many children in hopes of creating its own Siren, and Vira simply got the short straw. The children who were born were usually ‘thrown out,’ a term she never asked for elaboration on.
Father Baughn did return for her, offering her a chance to meet her mother in exchange for Vira returning to the cult. Vira accepted, stayed for a day, and then destroyed them all; Father Baughn included.
Her mother, a woman named Denari, had been taken in as an orphan by the cult when she was fifteen years old. When she was, Father Baughn had forced himself on her once; this one tragedy turned into her pregnancy with Vira. The realization that Father Baughn had been her biological father broke her heart.
Liam and Vira married after a few years and have never stopped loving each other.
